The Hydroinformatics team at KWR works at the intersection of information technology and water applications to develop methods and tools. We use these to make the water sector more efficient, sustainable and resilient. Given the growing work within the Hydroinformatics team and KWR on large-scale research and innovation programs, we are looking for an experienced hydroinformatics researcher who contributes to our projects on the basis of content and enthusiasm and who also has his own substantive focus.

Your profile

You are a hydroinformatics researcher with a strong affinity for sustainability and water and the societal importance associated with it. You work on diverse research projects on the dynamic border of research and practice. Within the field of hydroinformatics you work on projects in the field of e.g. digital twins, serious games, artificial intelligence, probabilistic modelling or numerical optimization.

You fit the position well if you are naturally curious and intrinsically driven to contribute to a sustainable society. You enjoy working through projects and want to keep developing yourself.

Minimal Requirements

  • You have at least five years of experience.
  • You enjoy leading projects.
  • You have an excellent command of the Dutch and English languages, both verbally and in writing.
  • You know about acquisition, how to explore opportunities and win projects.

Furthermore:

  • You have completed an academic degree that is relevant for this position.
  • It is an advantage if you have experience and a network within the Dutch water sector.
  • You are capable of independent, autonomous and teamwork work.
  • You are analytically strong and have a well-developed and application-oriented mind.
  • You know how to convincingly connect knowledge development and innovation with social questions and market demands.
  • You know how to plan and organise work well, you are communicatively strong and a connector and you can transform complex issues into appealing and feasible research projects.
  • You have experience with digital twins, modelling, artificial intelligence and acquisition.

The team

The mission of the Hydroinformatics team is to help the water sector address complex water issues by using digital technologies and solutions. Your ten fellow professionals on the team have a very diverse background and experience. Together we support the water sector with horizon scanning, identifying and (further) developing cutting-edge digital science and technology, and supporting their implementation in smart water solutions. Our areas of work focus on research, data management and software development. With data, we work toward the best decision making through models.

KWR is a research institute with an international reputation in the field of water quality, water technology, water systems, sustainability and transitions. ‘Bridging science to practice’ is our mission. At our almost entirely sustainable building with specialised research laboratories, our workforce of approximately 200 people in two research groups engages on innovative projects located in the Netherlands and, increasingly, elsewhere inside and outside Europe.
