I am recruiting a motivated PhD student to join my research group at Texas State University in Fall 2027. The position is fully funded.
Our research focuses on understanding and predicting how hydrologic variability, climate change, and human activities influence river and stream ecosystems. The selected student will focus primarily on quantitative hydrology, including watershed modeling, flow-regime analysis, and statistical approaches, with opportunities to connect these investigations to freshwater biodiversity and ecosystem functioning.
Potential research areas include:
- Watershed hydrologic modeling using SWAT+ or similar models
- Hydrologic regime characterization, environmental flows, and streamflow alteration
- Climate and land-use change impacts on river systems
- Intermittent streams, drying–rewetting dynamics, and hydrologic connectivity
Preferred Qualifications: Applicants should have a background in hydrology, water resources engineering, environmental science, earth sciences, ecology, or a related discipline. Experience with hydrologic modeling, GIS, R, Python, or statistical analysis is desirable. Applicants with strong quantitative skills and an interest in interdisciplinary research are particularly encouraged to apply.
Interested candidates are encouraged to contact me at schattop@txstate.edu with their CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for two references.I would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with prospective students in your networks. Thank you.
