Do you have experience with levee reinforcement projects in the Netherlands and are you keen to apply innovative solutions? Do you enjoy applied research and are you passionate about flood safety issues? Join our team and help shape the future of flood safety.
Here’s what you can expect as a flood safety consultant and researcher
As a consultant, you’ll tackle a wide range of geotechnical issues that arise during the design and assessment of levees and flood defences. To do this, you’ll visit clients such as Rijkswaterstaat, the water authorities and other organisations active in this field.
In your research, you’ll focus on the bigger picture. You’ll examine developments that have an impact and use your knowledge to interpret, from the perspective of soil conditions, the effects of climate change, analyse land subsidence, monitor flood situations and shape the substance and form of flood safety.
The new knowledge is validated, for example in our experimental facilities and documented in guidelines and tools used by both you and the sector. Sharing this knowledge fosters close links with our partners and clients, both nationally and internationally.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Leading and advising on geotechnical projects in studies relating to levees and flood defences;
- Carrying out and reviewing assessments and levee reinforcement projects;
- Developing and validating knowledge relating to flood defences through research, covering both failure mechanisms and the application of new techniques, such as for revetment or levee reinforcement;
- Contributing to the development of design and assessment tools and software such as the D-series;
- Collaborating in multidisciplinary teams with colleagues from various technical disciplines on flood defence studies;
- Visiting our clients and acting as a central point of contact with our stakeholders;
- Operating in a politically, administratively and socially sensitive environment.
With your broad knowledge and Dutch network, you will be able to tackle practical knowledge-based challenges and facilitate the development of new commercial, research and/or consultancy projects. You will do this alongside colleagues who are leaders in their fields, as well as with our partners and clients. This is perfectly in line with your proactive and collaborative approach.
