Offer Description
The project focuses on the development and implementation of subgrid closure models for parallel two-dimensional hydrodynamic codes aimed at simulating flooding over large-scale and geometrically complex domains. The objective is to improve the representation of hydraulic effects induced by topography, bathymetry, buildings, infrastructure, and morphological discontinuities that are not explicitly resolved by the computational grid, while keeping the numerical cost under control. Formulations based on porosity, hydraulic connectivity, conveyance relationships, and other parameters derived from high-resolution data will be investigated. The developed closures will be integrated into 2D shallow-water schemes and assessed in a parallel computing environment. Validation will be carried out on synthetic test cases and real-world applications at urban and territorial scales, contributing to the development of more accurate and efficient tools for flood forecasting and flood-risk management
