Offer Description
Research and study activities related to integrated water resources management and the definition of basin management plans in African contexts, with particular reference to surface waters in the Danakil area. Focus on the microbiological study of lake environments, alkaline lakes, other extreme environments, such as hot springs, analysis of biogeochemical cycles and the development of interpretative models of the functioning of these ecosystems and their contribution to the provision of ecosystem services for local populations at the basin scale. Particular attention will also be devoted to the development, application and dissemination of advanced molecular and culture-based methodologies for the study of the microbiological quality of surface waters, with the aim of supporting and accelerating the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation).
