Chemical, Isotopic, and Agro-Environmental Characterization of Groundwater in the Gorgoglione (MT) Mining Concession Aquifer System Through an Integrated Multidisciplinary Analytical Approach via EURAXESS

Università degli Studi della Basilicata

Potenza, Italy 🇮🇹

Offer Description

The research program is aimed at the chemical and isotopic characterization of groundwater within the aquifer system of the Gorgoglione mining concession (MT), integrating hydrogeochemical and agro-environmental aspects through a multidisciplinary high-resolution analytical approach. The study includes the analysis of major, minor, and trace elements, combined with the determination of isotopic parameters, in order to identify the geochemical processes controlling water composition, reconstruct aquifer recharge mechanisms, and distinguish between natural and anthropogenic contributions. Particular attention will be devoted to the role of land use and agricultural practices in the mobility of nutrients and contaminants toward groundwater. Through statistical analyses and integrated data interpretation, the agro-environmental vulnerability of the area will be assessed.
