Job Description
Missions
The postdoctoral fellow will apply the mathematical tools developed by the ANR TeMPlex project (https://anr.fr/Project-ANR-23-CE56-0002) to the analysis of simulated or observed hydrological dynamics, with the aim of identifying relevant topological invariants that characterize the underlying dynamics and guide the selection of appropriate reduced models.
Activity
The work will consist of adapting and implementing existing topological tools on datasets derived from hydrological modeling or observation, analyzing the dynamics of the studied systems within the state space, benchmarking these results against those obtained through classical methods, and collaborating with domain researchers to interpret the findings within a hydrological framework. The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to the dissemination of the results through scientific publications and communications.
Your Profil
Skills
The position requires a Ph.D. in applied mathematics, experience in data analysis, scientific programming skills, and familiarity with the challenges of nonlinear sciences. The ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment and a strong command of English are also expected.
Your Work Environment
The contract is part of the ANR TeMPlex project, which develops a novel mathematical approach for the analysis of complex dynamics based on simulated or observed data. The study of hydrological data constitutes one of the applied components of the project. The position is based at the French-Argentine Institute for Climate Studies and its Impacts (IFAECI, IRL 3351 CNRS–IRD–CONICET–UBA) in Buenos Aires, under the supervision of Anna Sörensson, Lluís Fita Borrell, and Denisse Sciamarella.
