- Background of the recruitment and description of the projectThe Department of Urban and Environmental Engineering consists of three divisions: the Urban Engineering Division, the Sustainable Aquatic Environmental Engineering Division, and the Water and Material Cycles System Division. This call invites applications for an associate professor position in the Urban Engineering Division. We seek a candidate who, building on a foundation of data science and statistical analysis and drawing on AI technologies such as machine learning, advances theoretical and empirical research using large-scale data, with a focus on the multifaceted sustainability assessment of cities, regions, and industries. Beyond environmental and economic value, the scope encompasses natural and human capital, organizational diversity and governance structures, and ultimately their effects on the well-being of the people who live there. Building on these research outcomes, the successful candidate will be expected to establish methods for evaluating societal change and information, and to advance education and research on policy formulation and social implementation in collaboration with national and local governments and industry.

Teaching Responsibilities : Undergraduate: lectures on basic and applied subjects in the Department of Civil Engineering — such as Urban Planning, Introduction to Community and Regional Development, and Transportation Engineering — together with related exercises and experiments.
Graduate: lectures on applied and advanced subjects in the relevant specialized fields in the Department of Civil Engineering.

- Annual Salary : 7 million yen ~The annual salary system, which was introduced on 1st of April 2020, will be applied. The annual salary is determined in accordance with the university’s pay scale based on experience, etc.
The adove annual salary are general guidelines and may be less than the above annual salary in some cases.
