Statistical Modelling of Rainfall Extremes Using Climate Covariates and Future Temperature Scenarios via EURAXESS

Universita' di Bologna

Bologna, Italy 🇮🇹

Offer Description

The research activity focuses on the statistical modelling of extreme rainfall events under climate change conditions, with particular emphasis on the role of climate covariates and future scenarios. The project will investigate how antecedent temperature influences sub-hourly rainfall extremes through the application and development of advanced statistical frameworks. High-resolution precipitation and temperature datasets will be analysed to identify spatial and temporal patterns controlling extreme rainfall statistics across different geomorphological settings. The research will also employ future climate projections to estimate future rainfall return levels and assess the potential impacts of climate change on hydrological extremes. The activity includes data analysis, model implementation and validation, interpretation of climate-driven changes in rainfall extremes, and dissemination of scientific results through publications and international conferences.
