Are you an experienced humanitarian professional with at least five years’ experience in Public Health Promotion (PHP) for WASH programming in humanitarian emergencies?
Do you have demonstrable experience responding to at least two different types of humanitarian emergencies (for example conflict, displacement, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or other acute crises) across at least two different geographical contexts?
Do you have experience applying Public Health Promotion (PHP), community engagement, and participatory approaches within WASH programming to identify and address public health risks, strengthen accountability to affected populations, and improve WASH outcomes?
Do you have experience providing technical leadership, supporting teams, and working collaboratively with national and international colleagues and partners in complex and challenging environments?
To provide technical leadership for Public Health Promotion (PHP) and Community Engagement within humanitarian WASH responses, working with staff, partners, and affected communities to reduce public health risks and prevent disease outbreaks.
The postholder will lead the design and delivery of Public Health Promotion programmes that enable women, men, girls, and boys to identify and address public health risks and participate in the safe, equitable, and culturally appropriate use and management of WASH services and resources, while supporting equitable access to services. They will promote partnership approaches and ensure that community participation, accountability, and feminist principles inform programme design, implementation, monitoring, and adaptation, while promoting safe programming and strengthening the capacity of staff and partners.
TEAM PURPOSE: What is a Humanitarian Support Personnel (HSP)?
The Humanitarian Support Personnel (HSP) team comprises technical humanitarian specialists from a range of disciplines across the globe. They provide surge capacity to Oxfam country teams, bringing specialist skills and experience to support responses to conflicts, natural disasters, and other humanitarian emergencies. Current emergency programmes are located across Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and Eastern Europe.
HSPs are globally mobile and are required to work away from their home base on a continuous basis. They are typically deployed to a specific location for assignments ranging from several weeks to up to six months in duration. They are expected to be deployed to country programmes for up to nine months per year (pro rata for part-time posts).
When not deployed (or on annual leave), HSPs may be assigned to project-based or proactive work. Subject to operational requirements and in line with Oxfam policies and ways of working, this work may be undertaken remotely from home or from an Oxfam office.
