Full job description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, and implementation of bulk water infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs, intake structures, and water resource systems.
  • Perform advanced hydraulic modelling using Civil 3D IDAS and transient/surge analyses using KY Pipe.
  • Prepare and lead technical proposals and tender submissions for complex water projects.
  • Manage project deliverables and ensure alignment with client requirements and project objectives.
  • Oversee health, safety, and environmental (HSE) risk identification and mitigation during design and construction.
  • Drive design improvements to enhance cost efficiency, material optimisation, and project delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, supervision, and mentorship to junior engineers, technicians, and draughtsmen.

Education & Experience

  • BEng or BSc in Civil Engineering (Mandatory).
  • Professional registration with ECSA as a Pr Eng (Mandatory).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience in Civil Engineering within the water sector.
  • Experience delivering multidisciplinary water infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record in the design and delivery of civil water-related engineering projects.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong technical expertise in water engineering design and project execution.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with KY Pipe software is advantageous.
  • Sound knowledge of hydraulic modelling and surge analysis.
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and quality assurance principles.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environmental (HSE) compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and stakeholder management abilities.
