Mission and objectives
UNESCO Khartoum was established in December 2006 to address sharing vision programs for Sudan as road map for achieving the prosperity of Sudanese people hopes during in line with biennial sectorial priorities and medium-term strategy, and to assist Sudan in post-conflict and disaster situations, concentrating its efforts to help avoid the recurrence of conflicts by addressing their root causes and to ensure recovery and development to prepare the new generation for the challenges of the 21st century.
Context
The ongoing conflict in Sudan has significantly impacted access to safe drinking water and the destruction of key dams and further threatened water and energy security. The conflict has also severely affected Sudan’s protected areas, including Biosphere Reserves, increasing environmental pressure. The conflict has also displaced scientists, disrupted research, and damaged the majority of key scientific institutions such as Sudanese Universities and research institutions. In light of the severity of the situation, the UNESCO Director-General has initiated the development of an Emergency Programme covering all relevant areas of its mandate, with priority attention to women and girls. One of the key objectives of the Programme is (Protecting the environment and building the resilience of the Science Sector): Strengthening water resources preservation, preventive conservation of protected areas

Task description
Within scope of the UNESCO’s Emergency Programme for Sudan related to (Protecting the environment and building the resilience of the Science Sector); the UNESCO Sudan is looking for Online Volunteers to work under the management of the Head of Sciences Unit/Natural Sciences Specialist at UNESCO Sudan Office with the following responsibilities: Develop communication materials (three social media posts with captions, and three infographic).

1. Good Analytical, organizational and project management skills 2. Good written and oral communication skills 3. Good drafting skills with ability to produce high-quality reports, proposals/concept notes 4. Experience in Climate and Environment 5. Within Youth Age Group (25 to 35 years old)
