PhD Positions in Smart Water Distribution System Management
The UrbanLinks research group at Concordia University is seeking motivated PhD students to contribute to research on smart and sustainable water distribution systems.
Funding is available for projects in three research areas:
- Integrated optimization of pipe maintenance, renewal, and system design
- Real-time operation of water distribution systems
- Reliability of artificial intelligence tools for water systems
Preferred Technical Qualifications
- Experience in the water sector, preferably related to water distribution systems or infrastructure asset management
- Working knowledge of Python, machine learning, and hydraulic modelling
- Experience with water distribution modelling software, such as EPANET, is an asset
- Knowledge of geographic information systems (GIS) is an asset
General Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, building, environmental, or computer engineering, computer science, or another relevant field
- A strong academic record, normally equivalent to a GPA of 3.7 or higher
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- A diligent and detail-oriented approach to research
- The ability to work independently and effectively as part of a diverse research team
- Knowledge of French is an asset but is not required
