This position is a member of our Water Supply Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Provide highly advanced technical consultation related to the quality assurance (QA) processes for programs within the Water Supply Division (WSD) of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Provide oversight of quality assurance (QA) requirements for programs of the WSD; serve as liaison with agency QA management; implement agency quality system specifications; track and communicate corrective actions; coordinate with program management to develop and maintain quality assurance project plans (QAPP) to ensure consistency with program requirements; and coordinate and participate in QA audits.
- Review and assess highly advanced data, environmental information, and records provided by program stakeholders, such as staff or contractors, regulated entities, and laboratories, to determine if program requirements were met. Support program and project managers to ensure work performed meets program needs.
- Respond to telephone calls, correspondence, and other requests, and provide technical assistance related to conformance with, or understanding of, quality assurance documentation pertaining to programs of the WSD to other agency staff, governmental entities, laboratories, and the public.
- Prepare technical reports, conformance recommendations, correspondence, and memoranda for WSD. Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), training manuals, and guidance documents associated with work assigned. Assist with bill review and bill impact statements during the legislative session.
- Represent the WSD as a technical expert on committees, workgroups, and at external meetings. Prepare informational material and give presentations at meetings, workshops, conferences, and training events.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience developing, overseeing or reviewing quality systems.
- Experience implementing a regulatory program requiring the development of rules, Standard Operating Procedures, guidance, etc.
- Experience working with public drinking water programs and/or drinking water state and federal rules.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with a major in a natural or physical science, engineering, environmental studies, or related field, plus six years of full-time experience in environmental activities.
One year of full-time experience in the field of environmental activities may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.
OR
A master¿s degree from an accredited college or university in the degrees listed above, or related fields plus five years of the required experience.
OR
A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, environmental science, or related fields plus four years of the required experience.
OR
Two years of full-time experience as a Natural Resources Specialist IV at the TCEQ.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Water Supply Division.
