Objective and Purpose of the Assignment
- To provide technical support in groundwater assessment, monitoring, and management under the Program.
- To ensure that Program activities and recommendations are aligned with Cambodia’s hydrogeological

Detailed Tasks and/or Expected Output
- Technical Support:
a. Assist in planning and conducting groundwater desk reviews, surveys, and field investigations.
b. Support hydro-geophysical survey logistics and data collection in project sites.
c. Contribute to interpretation of groundwater data, focusing on local geological and hydrological
conditions.
d. Support PIU to set up groundwater monitoring wells - Capacity Strengthening
a. Support the design and delivery of training workshops for PMU and PIU staff on groundwater
monitoring, modelling and mapping, and management.
b. Provide on-the-job mentoring to provincial teams during field monitoring exercises.
c. Translate technical materials and ensure accessibility for local counterparts. - Institutional Support
a. Liaise with national and subnational government agencies to ensure alignment with Cambodian policies
and standards.
b. Facilitate communication between the International Specialist, PMU, PIUs, and local communities.
c. Support the institutionalization of groundwater monitoring protocols and reporting templates. - Program Coordination
a. Assist in preparation of progress reports, training documentation, and groundwater monitoring
guidelines.
b. Ensure lessons learned are documented and disseminated to national stakeholders.
c. Contribute to sustainability planning, including recommendations for long-term groundwater management
in rural areas.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor degree or equivalent degree in hydrogeology, geophysics, water resources engineering, or
related field. - At least 5 years of professional experience in groundwater assessment and management in Cambodia or
the Mekong region. - Experience with hydro-geophysical surveys (resistivity/EC), borehole drilling supervision, and water
quality testing. - Proven experience in training and capacity building of government counterparts.
- Strong coordination and communication skills; fluency in Khmer and working knowledge of English.
- Experience in GIS tool
