About the Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Hydrometric Officer in the Water Science and Monitoring Branch. The Senior Hydrometric Officer will assist in the repair of fixed assets, collect water resource data and enter information into applicable departmental information systems. They will be required to setup and operate various test equipment and also be involved in the maintenance of this equipment. The work will include assisting in planning and implementing field programs which will be conducted across the State including in remote areas. Experience in remote areas and demonstrated experience and operation of heavy vehicles, high risk crane operations and associated equipment is highly desirable.

Contract:
Contract for up to 30 June 2027
Essential / Desirable Criteria:
- A current class “C” driver’s licence and willingness and ability to safely operate a 4wd is essential.
- Experience and licenses to operate heavy machinery is desirable (eg. Heavy Rigid, Forklift or High-Risk, Crane Operators Licenses)
Special Conditions:
- May be required to participate in responses to state emergencies or associated duties.
- You must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or provide evidence that you hold a valid working visa that allows you to work in Australia without restrictions.
- Prior to being employed, the successful candidate will be required to provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC), which is required to be renewed every three years. DEW will cover the cost of renewal.
- Required to be a State Authorised Officer under the Landscapes South Australia Act 2019.
- May be required to undertake intra or interstate travel for extended periods, regular overnight absences, and work outside of the normal hours of work including weekends, and public holidays.
A successful applicant who is not currently employed by the Department for Environment and Water will be required to have an original photo identification document sighted and provide a valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) issued within the last 12 months.
Remuneration:
OPS3 $71,589min – $76,033 max p.a.
