Mission:
Develop nanocomposites for water disinfection in tertiary wastewater treatment and biomedical applications.
Functions to be developed:
- Operate and maintain advanced analytical and characterization equipment.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data using statistical and scientific methodologies.
- Design and execute experimental research in the fields of nanotechnology, biotechnology and environmental engineering.
- Develop and optimize nanomaterials, nanocomposites and nanoformulations for environmental and biomedical applications.

Skills/Qualifications
Technical Skills:
- FT-IR spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, Langmuir-Blodgett basin and dynamic light scattering (DLS).
- Microbiological techniques, including bacterial quantification (biofilm biomass assessment and colony counting) and determination of metabolic activity using assays such as reactive oxygen species (ROS) measurement, XTT assays and related analytical methods.
- Laboratory and pilot-scale equipment, including water filtration columns, bioreactors, lyophilizers, centrifuges and ultrasonic probes, with expertise ranging from small-scale systems to pilot-scale processes.
- In enzymatic functionalization.
Other requirements to consider:
- Ability to formulate hypotheses, design experiments, interpret data and disseminate and publish research results.
Specific Requirements
Knowledge:
- Nanoformulation.
- Nanocomposites.
- Wastewater disinfection.
- Biocatalysts
- Biological and physicochemical characterization of functionalized materials.
Professional Experience:
- in scientific communication and a solid track record of publications in high-impact first-quarter journals.
- Participation in multidisciplinary research projects: experience in European collaborative projects, including preparation of technical results, presentation of project reports and active participation in consortium meetings.
- In the design and execution of experimental research, data analysis and dissemination of scientific results.
- Expert in the development of innovative solutions in the fields of biotechnology, nanotechnology and environmental engineering.
- Have worked on advanced analytical and characterization techniques and in multidisciplinary and international research teams.
- Experience in functions similar to those described will be valued, specifically in the development of research activities, both in the university and industrial environment.

€38,684.20 gross/annual (per full-time position)
Eligibility criteria
All the candidates who cannot prove the required academic degree will be immediately withdrawn from the selection process.
The CVs will be assessed according the following general criteria:
- The maximum score for the candidates who accomplish all the eligibility criteria stated in the job offer will be 10 points.
- Threshold: 5 points.
- The maximum score (10 points) will be distributed as follows:
- 1 point for required speciality.
- 2 points for required academic training.
- 2 points for technic competences.
- 1 point for organisational competences.
- 3 points for professional experience.
- 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as specially relevant by the Selection committee.
If the selection committee decide to include a personal interview as additional step of the selection process, only the candidates scored 5 or above for their CV will be retained for the interview step.
The interview will be assessed according the following criteria:
- Maximum scoring: 5 points.
- Threshold: 3 points.
- The maximum score will be distributed according the following criteria:
- 2 points for adequacy to functional competences of the job.
- 2 points for adequacy of professional experience.
- 1 point for any aspect of the candidate’s professional profile to be determined as especially relevant by the Selection committee.
The eligible candidates will be ranked from highest to lowest score, being this the selection criteria.
