Offer Description
Position available within the research project entitled: “Sustainable solutions to reduce the environmental impact of WWTPs using hybrid integrated modelling and process control”, project number PN-IV-P2-2.1-TE-2023-0666
Carries out research and development activities within the scope of the project and performs other tasks in accordance with the project proposal and implementation plan. Improvement of existing models for the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) for the case study within the project using MATLAB. Formulation of sustainable solutions to minimize the environmental impact of the WWTP. Participates in training activities for other project members and students conducting research on the project topic, particularly on the WWTP theme. Participates in self-development activities in accordance with needs identified within the project. Contributes to the communication and dissemination of project results, including through writing scientific articles and participating in national and international scientific and technical events relevant to the project. Participates in meetings organized within the project, including the workshop on water quality. Contributes to the preparation of project reporting documentation by drafting the assigned sections in accordance with the activities outlined in this document and in the project implementation plan. Performs permanent or occasional tasks assigned within the project. The tasks listed are not exhaustive; the project director may assign additional specific tasks to ensure the successful implementation of the project

Skills/Qualifications
Completed higher education: Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering
Enrolled in doctoral university studies in the field of Chemical Engineering
Solid knowledge of wastewater treatment technology, momentum transfer, mass transfer,
heat transfer, water parameter monitoring, experimental data processing
Direct experience with technological processes in urban wastewater treatment plants with
tertiary treatment stage, and in-depth knowledge of nutrient removal processes from
wastewater
Direct experience in modelling, simulation, and control of processes in wastewater treatment
plants
Solid knowledge of using MATLAB for chemical engineering and WEST (DHI) for modelling,
simulation, and control of wastewater treatment plants
Excellent IT skills in all core Microsoft Office products
Strong written and verbal communication skills in Romanian and English
Fulfilment of the standards required for the position of Scientific Research Assistant,
according to the Competition Methodology for filling vacant teaching and research positions
at the “Babeș-Bolyai” University in Cluj-Napoca
Additional Information
Eligibility criteria
graduated Master in Chemical Engineering and ongoing PhD in Chemical Engineering; Solid knowledge of MATLAB and WEST.
