M.S./Ph.D. opportunity is available starting Fall 2026 in the Department of Biological, Geological, and Environmental Sciences at Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Research in the lab focuses on aquatic ecology, limnology, and biogeochemistry, with an emphasis on understanding how human disturbances and warming winters influence carbon and phosphorus cycling, phytoplankton dynamics, and/or microbial processes in inland waters through field and laboratory studies.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science, Biology, Limnology, Geosciences or a related field.
  • Interest in limnology, aquatic ecology, water quality, biogeochemistry, or nutrient cycling.
  • Experience with lake, stream, or watershed monitoring, including field sampling, operation of water quality instrumentation, and laboratory analyses, is desirable.
  • Familiarity with analyses of nutrients, dissolved organic matter, major ions, microbes/eDNA, or related water quality parameters is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with data analysis in R, Python, or similar platforms, and/or geospatial analysis using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or related software is beneficial but not required.
  • Ability and willingness to conduct fieldwork in a variety of weather conditions, including work from boats.
