The WASH & Rehabilitation Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring WASH and infrastructure rehabilitation activities in Aleppo, ensuring they meet Action Against Hunger, donor, and humanitarian standards. This role involves conducting needs assessments, preparing technical documentation, supervising works, and ensuring quality compliance in collaboration with contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders. The officer also supports integrated program delivery, contributes to proposal development, and ensures cross-cutting themes such as protection, gender, and community engagement are incorporated into projects. By coordinating with internal teams and external partners, the position aims to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and resilient infrastructure for targeted communities while upholding ACF’s code of conduct and safeguarding principles.
Key activities in your role will include
- Plan, coordinate, and implement WASH and infrastructure rehabilitation activities in line with approved plans, budgets, and humanitarian standards.
- Conduct needs assessments, prepare technical documents (BoQs, drawings, specifications), and supervise contractors to ensure quality and compliance.
- Monitor project progress, ensure adherence to timelines, and report regularly on achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
- Liaise with local authorities, sector clusters, and other humanitarian actors to ensure coordination and integration of interventions.
- Support community engagement, protection mainstreaming, and capacity building for field teams and stakeholders.
Do you meet the profile required criteria?
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical engineering or extensive experience in these fields.
- Prior experience of implementing WASH and Rehabilitation projects in Syria in humanitarian organizations.
- At least 3 years of previous relevant job experience
- Knowledge of the Northern and the northwestern area is desirable. -Knowledge or experience in Protection Mainstreaming and Gender-sensitive WASH interventions.
- Humanitarian sector knowledge: Preferred.
- Organization knowledge: Preferred
- Languages: Arabic & English.
Our remuneration package:
- Contract period: 6 months renewable base on Action Against Hunger fund and performance.
- Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger’s salary scale and terms and conditions.
- Duty station: Aleppo.
