announces an open competition for the position of Assistant Professor (M/F/O)
in the group of teaching staff
at the Institute of Environmental Engineering – Department of Water Engineering
Job Description:
- conducting research in the fields of water engineering and management, hydrotechnology, and hydropower, including securing external funding for research projects;
- preparing and teaching courses in the following areas: hydropower, hydraulic structures, and safety engineering—in both Polish and English;
- disseminating research results in the form of scientific publications in journals indexed in the SCOPUS or Web of Science databases;
- participating in scientific conferences/symposia (domestic and international);
- participating in workshops and training sessions to enhance professional competencies;
- participating in organizational activities for the benefit of the unit and the university;
- other tasks assigned by the unit head, arising from the profile and nature of the unit and the university.
Requirements for the candidate:
- holds at least a Ph.D. in engineering and technical sciences in the fields of hydraulic engineering, hydrotechnology, and hydropower, within the disciplines of environmental engineering, mining, and energy;
- has teaching experience at the academic level in the following areas: hydropower, hydraulic structures, and technical safety engineering;
- has experience in the design and optimization of renewable energy systems—photovoltaics and hydropower—knowledge of water turbines in small hydropower plants, and the design, operation, and maintenance of Archimedes and Banki-Michel turbines;
- has proficiency in AutoCAD, QGIS, HEC-RAS, and SOLIDWORKS software, as well as in building physical models using 3D printing technology;
- possesses field research skills and knowledge of operating specialized measuring equipment, including aerial and underwater drones, hydrometric mills, ADP and ADCP devices, measurement probes in reservoirs and rivers, GPS, and the operation of motorized pontoons and motorboats;
- holds a Class B driver’s license to operate passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons, including trailers carrying measurement equipment and boats;
- has proficiency in Polish (spoken and written);
- has proficiency in English at a minimum level of B2;
- meets the criteria specified in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science:
- enjoys full public rights;
- has full legal capacity;
- has not been convicted by a final judgment for an intentional criminal offense or an intentional fiscal offense;
- has not been subject to disciplinary dismissal from employment at a higher education institution with a ban on working at universities for a period of 6 months to 5 years, nor deprived of the right to practice as an academic teacher for a period of 10 years.

- remuneration consisting of: base salary, seniority allowance (3–20%), an additional annual payment (the so-called “13th salary”), holiday/vacation subsidy, and other variable components resulting from the Remuneration Regulations for employees of the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences;

- Candidates who do not possess a certificate but meet the requirement of English proficiency at a minimum B2 level shall submit a declaration of language proficiency; verification will take place during the interview stage.
