This position is in the Tanks Section of the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and will be located at 1730 East Elm, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Responsibilities – What you’ll do
- Review technical documents that depict the characterization of petroleum contamination in the soil and groundwater.
- Evaluate submitted risk assessment reports to determine if contamination poses a risk to human health or the environment.
- Determine if corrective actions are needed to mitigate unacceptable risks.
- Prepare written documentation (reports, correspondence, letters, administrative orders, etc.) of compliance findings, status, and corrective actions.
- Maintain and collect data and documentation as it relates to tracking and monitoring compliance of risk assessment and cleanup.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications – All you need for success
To be successful in this position, a candidate will need the following skills:
- Environmental Science: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to protect and improve the quality of the environment and its resources; and to monitor, control, abate, and prevent pollutants.
- Risk Management: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools used for risk assessment and mitigation, including assessment of failures and their consequences.
- Planning and Evaluating: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals and strategies to achieve them; coordinates with other organizations or parts of the organization to accomplish goals; monitors progress and evaluates outcomes.
- Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, considering the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Equivalent to those typically gained by:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, natural resources, physical sciences, or a closely related field, and 0-4 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be considered).
