Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Country Director , the Mexico Program Manager is responsible for carrying out Water Mission’s mission in the country: to honor God by developing, implementing, and sharing best-in-class safe water solutions that transform as many lives as possible, as quickly as possible. This critical position is both a calling and a career. This role is responsible for managing a diverse team of local and international staff working across various functional groups, including human resources, accounting , WASH programs , operations, project management, safety, quality, ministry, and administration. By applying strong management and leadership , this role will ensure that Water Mission programs are successfully implemented in accordance with Water Mission standards.

This role will require establishing full-time residency in the country.  It will involve frequent travel between regional offices and other regional programs, as well as projects both within and outside the country .

The GPM is a recognized leader in solar pumping, water treatment, remote monitoring, and community development in disaster zones and rural communities. The GPM is expected to expand the program’s established reputation as an implementer and resource for other like-minded organizations.

Job responsibilities:

Strategic Management and Planning

  • Maintain a strong Christian testimony and model servant leadership for colleagues, partners, the communities we serve, and the public.
  • Lead the operational and management team of the regional offices, as well as coordinate all their operations
  • Ensure that personnel management practices are consistent with WM standards
  • Ensure strategic planning in the medium and long term
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of management procedures.
  • Provide regular communication updates from the country and regional office regarding administrative, financial, and programmatic updates/needs

Finance and Administration

  • Monitor the financial and administrative situation and, based on the strategy and objectives set, make the relevant decisions in collaboration with your work team and WM’s headquarters in the country.
  • Together with the management team and the finance officer, he prepares and oversees the budget for the assigned offices and the overall financial situation.

Project management

  • It actively contributes to and supports the development of new proposals, in line with WM’s country strategy.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality reports on the operational performance of the country program compared to the approved ministry tactical plan and budget, to donors and headquarters
  • Monitor KPIs and ensure their compliance and improvement.
  • Actively monitor the implementation of program projects in your areas and provide feedback to the relevant staff.
  • Maintain WM’s quality standards in the execution of all project activities

Representation and fundraising

  • Participate in donor and key stakeholder relations to actively seek funding opportunities. Help improve the quality of proposals, understand donor priorities, and ensure participant coordination.
  • Represent WM in meetings with government partners, regional and local authorities, donors, local agencies, coordinating bodies and other relevant stakeholders, at all levels of project implementation as needed
  • Proactively engage with other organizations in the WASH sector to advance our mission and vision and evaluate individuals and organizations for potential ministry partnerships

Human Resources Management

  • Plan the program’s HR needs and participate in the staff selection process.
  • Monitor capacity building and ensure sufficient human resources for projects to meet their objectives
  • Ensure a consistent policy of recruitment, remuneration and bonuses throughout the operational program.

Security

  • Ensure the implementation of appropriate measures to mitigate the legal, reputational, financial, and security risks of the program
  • To ensure respect for the organization’s principles and values, particularly with regard to the code of conduct and the fight against fraud, corruption, abuse and other bad practices .
  • Report any violations of our protocols and policies in a timely manner, in accordance with established procedures .
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations in the country
  • Analyze the security risks of the program and adapt its operation and internal measures to the security situation

Required qualifications:

  • A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and the core values ​​of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree from an accredited university in fields such as Administration, Engineering, Development or Business, Public Health or any other related discipline
  • Master’s degree in project management preferred
  • Proven experience in managing programs of >1,000,000 MXN.
  • At least 6+ months of experience living in a developing country; Mexico preferred
  • 3+ years in a leadership or management position with experience in training, mentoring, and developing new leaders
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining multiple partnerships with Christian ministries, NGOs, governments, UN organizations, USAID, and other development agencies
  • Advanced computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, SharePoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in intercultural environments
  • Legal authorization to work in Mexico
