A fully funded MASc/PhD position in Semi-Autonomous Monitoring to support Water Resources Planning and Management – University of Toronto

Our research group in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering at the University of Toronto (https://lnkd.in/eWQXhJva) is seeking a motivated graduate research student (MASc or PhD) to join the group starting in January 2027 on a fully funded position. Funding will be aligned with the funding packages of our department (https://lnkd.in/eUEgy8Qb).
The research will focus on the application of semi-autonomous monitoring techniques to support water resources planning and management. This includes developing AI-driven approaches to guide monitoring, analysis, and decision support in water resource systems, utilizing UAVs and USVs. Applicants should have an academic background in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. PhD applicants should hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, and MASc applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree. A strong background in Python programming is required. Experience in water resources modelling, data science, machine learning, remote sensing, UAV and USV systems, or related areas is an asset.
Applicants must fulfil the following requirements:
– MASc applicants 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜, and PhD applicants can be domestic or international.
– PhD applicants must hold undergraduate and master’s degrees with GPA averages of at least B+ (3.3/4.0 or 78%).
– MASc applicants must hold an undergraduate degree with a GPA average of at least B+ (3.3/4.0 or 78%).
