Your Opportunity

Stantec seeks a talented individual interested in contributing to multi-party collaborative processes, community outreach and engagement, and water resources planning and management. The selected candidate will join a team of public affairs and community water planning professionals to support a variety of integrated water resources projects, directly impacting stormwater infrastructure, groundwater management, and safe drinking water. This position is located in, and will be supervised from, our office in Pasadena, California. Your Key Responsibilities

  • Support virtual and in-person meeting facilitation and engagement at committee meetings, stakeholder interviews, community gatherings, task forces, and working groups.
  • Support meeting coordination tasks for Safe, Clean Water Program Committees, including participation tracking, preparation of public presentations, and preparation of documents for online and hard copy publication.
  • Perform project coordination including preparation of draft facilitation plans, reports and memos, proposals, and general information gathering.
  • Prepare educational resources with specific learning objectives, instructional materials, and content focused on water and environmental topics, and tailored to various audiences and communities based on their needs, learning styles, and most used language.
  • Conduct research and assessments to support water supply, drought, flood, or stormwater management efforts at local and watershed scales.
  • Support implementation of projects and programs identified by community members that overcome challenges and reinforce strengths.
  • Facilitating work of interdisciplinary teams and coordinating with local, regional, and federal clients and project partners to overcome hurdles.
  • Regularly travel to attend in-person meetings throughout LA County. Additional travel within California as needed for project work, not to exceed 10%.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Credentials and Education

  • At least 2 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience supporting communities with engagement, education, and decision-making related to water, natural resources, utilities, or similar.
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, political science, public relations or communications, city and regional planning/urban planning, environmental science, or related field.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt to different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working on multi-disciplinary teams of project managers, project engineers and staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors.
  • Experience in the following areas preferred, but not required:- California water resources and applicable laws/policies/regulations
  • Integrated water resource management including stormwater, groundwater, drinking water, drought planning and response, and recycled water supply projects.
  • Community outreach and engagement, government affairs, and public relations
  • Experience working with California Native American Tribes, environmental justice, and disadvantaged communities.
  • Research and analysis skills with qualitative and quantitative data relevant to community planning and design.
  • Fluent in Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Must have a good driving record and valid driver’s license.

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:

• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$84,700.00 – $122,800.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
