Organisational Unit

The Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management (IWB) at Graz University of Technology is engaged in research, teaching, and professional practice across key areas of hydraulic engineering and water resources management. It combines fundamental engineering principles with applied research and plays an active role in numerous national and international projects.

A defining feature of the institute is the application of a broad methodological spectrum, including physical modelling, numerical simulation, and field measurements, which are closely integrated. This combined approach enables a comprehensive analysis of complex hydraulic and morphodynamic processes.

In addition to advanced infrastructure for the numerical modelling of low- and high-head systems, the institute operates two laboratories, where both planform (area) models and flume experiments are conducted.

Application Documents

  • a CV (with copies of diplomas).
  • a list of publications highlighting the 5 most important publications.
  • a research statement describing past and planned research activities (2 pages max.).
  • a teaching statement (2 pages max.) and evaluations of past teaching activities (if available).
