Local recruitment: Hydrologist / Water Resource Engineer - Mining

SLR Consulting

Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪

SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people‑first culture.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced mine water professional to join our established Mine Water team, delivering high‑profile water management and mining sector projects.

Based in Dublin or any of our UK/European offices, the role will focus primarily on integrated water management for mining projects, with additional exposure to international feasibility studies, operational improvements, due diligence and ESIA‑related work, as well as a small amount of other multi‑disciplinary project work spanning renewables, infrastructure, power, industrial and built‑environment sectors.

The Role

You’ll lead the delivery of integrated mine water management projects from planning through to detailed design, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Project and technical leadership – contributing specialist hydrology and water resource expertise across feasibility studies, operational improvements, due diligence, ESIA and closure planning.
  • Client management and proposal support – managing enquiries, liaising directly with clients, supporting bids, facilitating technical workshops and ensuring high‑quality project delivery.
  • Mentoring and coaching less experienced engineers and scientists – helping to build team capability, supporting resource planning and contributing to the strategic direction of the Mine Water team.
  • Desk‑based work alongside site visits across the UK, Ireland, Europe and internationally – including field assessments, site‑based reviews and collaboration with global colleagues.

You’ll collaborate with colleagues across Environmental and Earth Sciences, Planning, ESIA, Engineering and Global Advisory on complex and impactful mining projects, with opportunities for European and international exposure.
