As a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the engineering, design, administration, contract preparation, tendering, construction, project management and quality control of capital infrastructure projects or programs at the water treatment plants, distribution network and within the division, including new water treatment plant and raw water intake. You will also prepare business plans, capital budgets, and provide engineering oversight of new facilities and improvements to existing facilities. Primary duties include:
• Select engineering consultants, architects and contractors for the design and construction of new facilities and/or retrofit or replacement of existing facilities.
• Provide accountability and oversight of consultant assignments, equipment procurement, supply and construction contracts ensuring all contractual, legal and regulatory requirements are met.
• Conduct comprehensive review and validation of engineering design, contract drawings and specifications, and oversee construction and commissioning.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, risks, and performance indicators, and develop mitigation strategies to address risks.
• Manage several complex projects and programs simultaneously and accept overall responsibility.
• Identify any contentious items and possible methods of resolution; liaise with external and internal parties and facilitate decision-making, collaboration and adherence to quality, safety and contractual requirements.
• Report on progress, contract management and delivery of projects in compliance with the City’s standards, APEGA requirements, safety legislation, and applicable codes and regulations.
• Assist in developing strategic plans for the team, establishing priorities, delivering corporate initiatives, leading change, and promoting innovation.
