Impacts of climate, N and P deposition and land use on water as a driver of the greenhouse gases regulatory ecosystem service in headwater catchments via EURAXESS

Università degli Studi di Padova

Padova, Italy 🇮🇹

Offer Description

The research programme is part of the European Water4All project SERVICO2 and aims to understand, quantify and predict how climate change, atmospheric nitrogen and phosphorus deposition, and land use affect the role of headwater catchments in greenhouse gas regulation. The research activities include high-frequency monitoring of CO₂, CH₄ and N₂O fluxes, hydrological and hydrochemical measurements, analysis of lateral carbon and nutrient transport, and investigation of the processes linking water, soils, vegetation and atmosphere. The overall goal is to improve the mechanistic understanding of the ecohydrological controls underpinning this climate-regulation ecosystem service and to assess the effects of global change on headwater systems
