Skills/Qualifications
- PhD in Coastal/Estuarine Science, Physical Oceanography, Sediment Dynamics, or related field
- No previous employment relations with University of Bucharest
- Solid data analysis skills in Python and/or Matlab
- Experience with oceanographic instrumentation and field data processing
- Interest in bridging observations and numerical modelling
- Hands-on attitude – you’ll spend time in the field
- Previous experience in publishing in highly ranked international scientific journals
- Experience with numerical modelling (Delft3D, MIKE, or similar) and sediment transport processes is highly valued.
Specific Requirements
- Processing and analysing data from field-deployed hydrodynamic and sediment sensors: currents, wave pressure, turbidity
- Developing robust calibration relationships between optical sensors and suspended sediment concentrations using water samples from the Danube Delta
- Building calibrated datasets for hydrodynamic and sediment transport model validation
- Working with diverse long-term datasets from our research station
- Contributing to numerical model development (Delft3D, MIKE21)
- Co-supervising one PhD student
- Participation in the field campaigns organized in the project
- Participation, whenever requested, in the project team’s working meetings
- Drafting monthly research reports
- Contributing to the drafting of the project deliverables
- Coordinating and contributing to the writing of scientific articles
