Are you looking to contribute to the mission of safe drinking water for Central Coast California residents? Are you interested in water quality data review, working with data management systems, and supporting an office?
The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, Monterey District has an opening for an Analyst II located at 1 Lower Ragsdale Dr., Building 1, Suite 120, Monterey, CA 93940.
The Monterey District regulates over 125 public water systems in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito Counties. Collectively the Division of Drinking Water, Monterey office includes three districts and regulates over 400 water systems. This is a hybrid in-person and telework position.
Duties:
The Analyst II will work independently in a fast-paced, productive, and cooperative environment performing complex analysis of drinking water data and documentation. The Analyst II is responsible for providing timely and professional analytical assistance to the public, stakeholders, internal staff, and external agencies by various methods of communication. The Analyst II will independently perform varied analytical tasks, assignments, and special projects associated with the planning, implementation, and administration support services activities and assignments for the Monterey District Office and assist the Field Support Unit. The Analyst II is required to work in a team environment, work independently, communicate effectively, manage multiple tasks, formulate recommendations, and perform complex analytical duties. Daily proficient use of office equipment, electronic databases, and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Working Conditions
Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position and might be expected to comply with Executive Order (EO) 22-25 after July 1, 2026.
In accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and GC 14200, the successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Proof of residency may be required.
Salary Information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience. Employees appointed to the Attorney or Water Resource Control Engineer classification will receive Recruitment Higher Above Minimum (HAM) rate in accordance with the approved Civil Service Pay Scales.
In addition, note: Effective July 1, 2025, the State of California implemented the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) which reduces an employee’s monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Employees appointed to this classification will have their monthly salary reduced and will accrue hours of PLP 2025 on the first day of each pay period in accordance with the applicable bargaining contract. The salary range(s) included on this job posting do not reflect the reduction in pay.
