About the Organization
The Brant Waterways Foundation (BWF) supports the preservation and celebration of trails and waterways across Brant County, the City of Brantford, and the Six Nations of the Grand River watershed. Since 1988, BWF has invested over $5 million into community projects and initiatives that enhance and promote the region’s natural and heritage assets.
About the Role
The Brant Waterways Foundation is seeking a highly organized, community-minded professional to support its operations, governance, fundraising, and communications.
This is a part-time, flexible role (approximately 10-12 hours per week) ideal for someone who thrives on working independently while collaborating with board members, volunteers, and community partners. This is a 1-year term with the potential for extension.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience supporting senior leadership, Boards, or nonprofit organizations
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable engaging with community stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365, CRM systems, and digital tools
- Experience managing websites and social media platforms (WordPress an asset)
- Interest in community development and environmental or trail-based initiatives
- Experience with graphic design and storytelling would be an asset
What You’ll Do
Operations & Governance
- Coordinate Board and committee meetings, including agendas, materials, and minutes
- Maintain organizational records and ensure alignment with bylaws and policies
- Support financial administration, including documentation and audit preparation
Communications & Community Engagement
- Manage social media, website updates, and quarterly e-newsletter
- Support communications campaigns to increase awareness and donor engagement
- Act as a liaison with donors, municipalities, and community partners
Fundraising & Events
- Support planning and execution of the annual fundraising gala and other events
- Assist with sponsorship coordination, ticketing, and donor relations
- Manage event communications and post-event follow-up
Administration
- Oversee correspondence, donations, and record-keeping
- Maintain donor database (CRM)
- Process charitable receipts and acknowledgements
- Coordinate vendors, supplies, and required filings
Work Arrangement
- Part-time contract: ~10-12 hours per week
- Flexible schedule
- Remote (home-based)
- Must be able to travel for events within Brantford, Brant, and Six Nations of the Grand River
- Compensation aligned with experience
Reporting Structure
Reports to the President and works closely with the Board of Directors.
