This exciting opportunity is available to recently graduated persons who are interested in working in water resource management to gain skills and experience addressing Queensland’s greatest challenge of a reliable and sustainable future for our water resources.

Operating from within North Region Water Planning Team, the Water Planning Officer will be involved in the development of innovative management solutions and policy for the development of Water Plans, Water Management Protocols and other policy relating to the efficient and sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
• Conduct water planning activities within a Region, including coordinating input from associated multi-disciplinary teams and delivering output for water planning functions and business objectives.
• Drafting policy papers and recommendation for the development of water plans, supporting instruments and other water planning documents in line with Queensland
Water Act 2000 requirements.
• Undertake technical review to inform development of water management solutions and policy and liaise with technical experts from various disciplines to inform the technical review.
• Undertake desktop research, data collection, interpretation, and analysis to inform the assessment of a range of water management and policy issues.
• Assist with consultation with internal and external clients.
• Prepare policy papers, briefing notes and other correspondence as required.
• Contribute to analysis and interpretation of existing National and State Government strategies, policies and legislation in relation to efficient and sustainable management of Queensland’s water resources.
• Contribute to a positive team culture by supporting team members and sharing information.
• Other duties as directed and required.
