Researcher: Monitoring, protection and valorization of water and its resources (H2O_VAL) via EURAXESS

Ca’ Foscari University of Venice

Venice, Italy 🇮🇹

Offer Description

The project provides an integrated analysis of the water supply chain, from the spread of emerging contaminants along waterways to the development of innovative solutions for monitoring, purification, and valorization of marine resources. Multi-compartmental models will assess the effects of climate change on the environmental risk associated with the presence of these contaminants in water resources. For in-situ monitoring, electrochemical sensors will be developed that can rapidly detect contamination and verify the effectiveness of purification processes. Pollutant removal will be addressed using innovative technologies based on cavitation and adsorbent materials. With a view to a circular economy, waste marine biomass, such as crustacean shells, will be recycled to obtain eco-sustainable materials with high added value, which can also be used in the production of the sensors themselves, improving their mechanical stability for on-stream applications.
