As Senior Water Resource Planner, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping long‑term water security in our region.

This is more than a technical role – it’s a chance to lead, influence and drive meaningful change.

You’ll take ownership of complex, multi-disciplinary planning projects from start to end – from early concept and option development through to business case preparation and decision support.

You’ll bring together diverse inputs – from modelling and data analysis through to community insights and translate them into clear, compelling advice for senior leaders, the Board and the stakeholders. You’ll also represent Barwon Water externally, navigating differing perspectives and helping shape outcomes built on trust through genuine engagement.

This is a hands-on, influential role where technical expertise, strategic thinking and community connection come together.

This role is a 12-month maximum term contract to backfill an internal secondment until June 2027.

About you

You’re an experienced professional with a strong track record delivering complex and dynamic projects in a strategic environment. Your highly developed communication skills will shine when technical information is transformed into clear, persuasive insights (through reports and presentations).

You’re naturally curious, a confident problem solver and can drive outcomes. You possess strong analytical skills.  can identify issues, comfortable working with data. You ask the right questions, know when to challenge and when to align. You’re comfortable working independently but also check in to contribute to a broader team vision.

Your experience in project management, community and stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking will bring success in the role.

You enjoy collaborating as part of a broader planning team and contributing beyond your immediate projects. Backed by qualifications in engineering, science or a related discipline, your practical experience will support your application as you’re motivated by making a tangible difference for the communities you serve.
