Stormwater / Water Resources Engineer, Auckland
Excellent opportunity for a Stormwater / Water Resources Engineer to join our high performing Auckland and national water team. The successful candidate will take a leading role in securing, managing and delivering hydrology and hydraulic modelling projects.
Contribute to the success of the water group, through providing high quality stormwater models and technical advisory work for a range of external and internal clients. We have several excellent opportunities involved with transformational projects and programmes associated with flood and cyclone recovery, major new highways, and pipe and culvert upgrades, water quality design, pond and wetlands, and stream restorations. You will have the chance to play a key part in predicting flood risk and delivering critical infrastructure for our communities in Auckland and around New Zealand.
Skills and Experience
- A recognised tertiary qualification in civil or environmental engineering, science or equivalent.
- Working towards chartered status with a professional body; CPEng, CIWEM (or equivalent)
- Current clean Drivers Licence
- Minimum of 5 years’ professional experience as a stormwater/water resources engineer in the hydrology and hydraulic modelling and/or flood risk management context.
- Strong capability and experience in using InfoWorks ICM software, with other hydraulic modelling and GIS packages being of benefit – MIKE FLOOD, MIKE 11, WaterRide, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, ArcGIS, QGIS.
- Sound understanding of hydraulics and hydrology, and ability to work from first principles
- Good communication skills including written and verbal, comfortable with client engagement
