Job Advert Summary
To develop and implement international water cooperation strategies and enhance partnerships with international, national, and regional stakeholders through effective implementation and integrated management of Rand Water’s International Engagements and Programmes. Liaise with Rand Water’s international cooperating partners and associations in line with the Partnerships and Collaboration Division’s objectives within the Rand Water Institute. This includes preparing consolidated international engagement plans, managing strategic engagements, and submitting reports. Manage and comply with Rand Water’s International Relations Policy, Strategy, and Implementation Procedure.
Minimum Requirements
•Minimum Education: Post Graduate Degree NQF8 (Engineering, Water, Natural Sciences)
•Desired Education: M Degree/PHD (Engineering, Water, Natural Sciences), MBA, MBL will be an advantage.
•Minimum Experience: 5-7 relevant experience at a management level in a similar environment and exposure to management and interfacing with the Executive.
•Desired Experience: 8-10 years of experience within a public entity or regulated environment would be advantageous.
•Minimum Knowledge: Bill of Rights, Water Services Act, PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, CIDB, FIDIC, SANS, ISO, etc.
Desired Knowledge: Business acumen and international relations.
Primary Duties
• Preparation and management of Rand Water’s strategic engagement plans, and submission to the executive for approval.
• Preparation and management of strategic international engagements by Rand Water’s Board, Management, and Employees and ensuring that all necessary approvals are in place.
• Liaise with Rand Water delegates, obtain approval for international engagement requests, communicate approved requests, and follow up with the travel management team.
• Liaise with the relevant international relations offices regarding approved travel and Rand Water delegates/officials.
• Contribute to the development and review of International Relations Policy.
• Overall guidance and advice on international relations and engagements.
• Implementation of International Relations Strategy and Programs.
• Participation in multi-lateral structures such as NEPAD, SADC, and UNESCO-IHE, among others.
• Facilitation of Bilateral relations and engagements.
• Organise workshops, training, and knowledge-sharing events to improve water management practices among stakeholders.
• Ensure international engagements align with international legal frameworks, such as the UN Water Convention.
• Proactive stakeholder and communication management.
• Effective risk management and adhering to international cooperation governance.
• Maintain international water cooperation best practices.
• Ensure effective implementation of a reporting system and monitoring of international water cooperation performance.
• Research international water cooperation, best practices and latest trends.
