We have a new and exciting role for a Development Planner to join our Infrastructure Strategy and Planning team!
This position plays a vital role in undertaking technical reviews of development enquiries to ensure compliance with engineering standards and the consideration of the development’s impact on the current network and treatment plant constraints.
You will be responsible for leading technical analysis on development inquiries based on asset and operational information and master plans. You will also oversee and provide technical reviews of hydraulic assessments completed by consultancies with the opportunity to expand your knowledge in hydraulic modelling to conduct assessments and inform enquiries. This includes preparing contract specifications, overseeing procurement and the delivery of professional engineering services contracts, and undertaking technical review of final deliverables.
This role is a full-time opportunity, including a monthly RDO and flexible work options.
Key Responsibilities
- Reviewing and providing water and wastewater engineering advice on North East Water’s ability to service new developments.
- Reviewing and providing advice on proposed design plans and their alignment with relevant standards.
- Overseeing and providing technical review of hydraulic assessments by consultancies.
- Preparing contract specifications, overseeing procurement and overseeing the delivery of professional engineering services contracts and undertaking technical review of final deliverables.
- Managing a suite of concurrent inquiries and analysis to ensure projects are on time and within budget.
- Producing well-written project reports, servicing advice and status reports on the suite of projects underway.
- Engaging across the business and with external stakeholders to ensure development advice meets the relevant requirements.
- Providing technical advice to external parties working in and around North East Water assets to ensure protection of our assets.
- Reviewing and updating standards relating to development and works around our assets.

Key Selection Criteria
- Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure.
- A high level of time management and organisation skills with the ability to manage multiple enquiries and projects concurrently in accordance with agreed standards, budgets and timeframes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with a range of stakeholders to gain cooperation, support and assistance in resolving challenges and achieving objectives.
- A tertiary qualification recognised by Engineers Australia in an engineering discipline relevant to the role with an understanding of hydraulics.
