Offer Description
We are seeking for a talented predoctoral researcher holding a M.Sc degree in Chemical Engineering or similar to join the Research Group on Electrochemical Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV). The group leader is Prof. Valentín Pérez Herranz.
The researcher will be responsible for conducting research activities of a recently granted EU project of the Water4All call (ReWAdd). Such activities involve:
- Characterizing different water samples for identifying their potential for nutrient recovery (ion chromatography, total organic carbon, HPLC-MS)
- Evaluating the transport of ions (including nutrients) through different ion-exchange membranes to obtain their selectivity towards ions of interest
- Electrochemical characterization of different membranes (voltammetry, chronopotentiometry, EIS)
- Evaluating the use of bipolar membrane electrodialysis for producing added-value streams from wastewater that could be converted into fertilizers
- Testing pilot plants in our living labs.
- Taking an active role in dissemination and communication activities, including participation in international conferences and writing scientific publications.
The researcher will have complete access to the group infrastructure, including advanced electrochemical devices, analytical equipments and doctoral courses.
