Job Description

Missions

The BISE team (Isotopic and Experimental Biogeochemistry) at the Institut Terre et Environnement de Strasbourg (ITES) is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher within the European project FLOATAGE (LEAP-SE) investigating the environmental impacts of floating photovoltaic systems (FPV).
The main objective is to better understand how these systems influence aquatic environments, including:
• biogeochemical cycles (carbon and nitrogen),
• water quality,
• and contaminant fate.
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to an integrated approach combining field observations, controlled experiments, and advanced analytical techniques.

Activity

The work will include:
• Participation in field campaigns at FPV sites (Europe and Africa)
• Measurement and interpretation of physicochemical parameters (oxygen, temperature, light, redox, nutrients, organic carbon)
• Analysis of contaminants and their transformation using advanced techniques (LC-MS/MS, HRMS, stable isotopes)
• Design and implementation of laboratory experiments (mesocosms) to simulate FPV conditions
• Data analysis and interpretation to identify key biogeochemical processes
• Contribution to simplified modelling approaches
• Scientific dissemination (publications, conferences)

Your Profil

Skills

Required
• PhD in environmental science, chemistry, biogeochemistry, hydrology or related field
• Experience in environmental data analysis
• Interest in experimental and field-based research
Preferred
• Experience in contaminant analysis (LC-MS/MS, HRMS)
• Knowledge of stable isotope techniques
• Background in aquatic biogeochemistry or microbial processes
• Programming skills (R, Python)
Soft skills
• Autonomy and organization
• Ability to work in an international team
• Good scientific English (C1)

Your Work Environment

The Institut Terre et Environnement de Strasbourg (ITES) is a Joint Research Unit (UMR 7063) under the supervision of CNRS, the University of Strasbourg and ENGEES. It is structured around four disciplines: hydrology, geochemistry, geology and geophysics, and includes six research teams. The institute is located in Strasbourg city center and is easily accessible by public transport.
The postdoctoral researcher will join the BISE team and work within an international collaborative project involving partners in Europe and Africa.
Transport support, access to subsidized catering facilities, and CNRS social benefits are provided.
