Objective and Purpose of the Assignment
The technical assistance (TA) 10755-IND will support the state government of Nagaland in India,
specifically the Department of Power, Nagaland (DPN), in the project preparation and due diligence
of two ensuing hydropower subprojects: the 24-megawatt (MW) Zungki hydropower subproject and the 42-
MW Lower Tizu hydropower subproject. This support will enable the sustainable development of
hydropower in Nagaland, ensuring that technical, environmental, gender mainstreaming, and social
safeguards are fully integrated into project design and execution. In doing so, it will promote
inclusive growth, enhance the state’s energy security, and ensure that hydropower development is
carefully balanced with the need to maintain functioning ecosystems, especially Nagaland’s rivers
and forests that have high biodiversity value for their endemism and that support Indigenous People’
s livelihoods.
