Heading to university this September? How does an extra £2,000 per year to help cover your fees sound?
This year, our University Grant Scheme is open to a broader range of subjects. If your degree relates to careers at Jersey Water, from engineering and sciences to Customer Services, Communications, Finance, HR, IT and Health & Safety, we want to hear from you.
Each year, we choose one successful applicant to receive funding towards the annual costs of their university course. As well as providing financial support, we also offer paid work experience during the holidays.
Suitable courses
Funding is open to Jersey residents who are enrolled on a first-degree course (BSc, BEng, or BA) at a university, college or similar institution to study a subject relevant to careers at Jersey Water.
Relevant subjects may include:
- Water Engineering (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
- Water resources, management and conservation
- Environmental sciences
- Chemistry
- Customer Services
- Communications
- Finance
- Human Resources
- IT
- Health & Safety

Application requirements
To fit our application criteria, you will need to have been:
- resident in Jersey for the past five years and not left the Island for longer than 12 months in those five years, including any time spent in full-time education
- accepted, either firmly or conditionally, by a university or equivalent, for a full-time, first-degree course and received, or are expected to receive, any minimum entry requirements
We will not consider applications if you:
- have already started an undergraduate degree course
- are looking for funding to study a post-graduate
- have secured a grant elsewhere.
How to apply for funding
Applying for our university grant funding is straightforward. Simply complete the online application form.
Along with the application, you will need to submit a personal summary that includes:
- Why you chose your university course
- How the course will help you with your future career goals
- The qualities you possess that will help you succeed in the water industry.
You will also need to provide us with confirmation that you have been accepted by a relevant college, university or similar institution.
About Jersey Water
For more than 140 years, Jersey Water has been the sole supplier of water to our Island community. Every day, the utility provides nearly 20 million litres of treated mains water to more than 40,000 homes and businesses, equating to approximately 90% of the population.
Jersey Water, one of the Island’s oldest registered company, now employs around 100 people and operates six reservoirs, a desalination plant and two treatment plants to supply water to its customers.
