The South Basin Manager serves as a key liaison between the Red River Basin Commission (RRBC), its working groups, Indigenous Peoples, stakeholders, and the public. This role supports communication, coordination, and collaboration across jurisdictions throughout the Red River Basin while promoting the mission and vision of the RRBC. The South Basin Manager works closely with the Executive Director to support organizational operations, maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and government partners in both the United States and Canada, and help advance basin-wide initiatives.
The South Basin Manager is responsible for assisting with the management and operations of the Fargo, ND office. The position supports financial, outreach, and policy activities and contributes to the implementation of the Red River Basin Natural Resource Framework Plan (NRFP). The role also represents the RRBC at meetings, conferences, and events, helps coordinate projects and partnerships, and ensures effective communication between RRBC leadership, committees, and external stakeholders.
The South Basin Manager shall report directly to the Executive Director.

Specific Responsibilities:
· Provide reports and information for the Board of Directors, committees and the Executive Director as directed by the Executive Director.
· Assist in the operation and management of the office in Fargo, ND.
· Represent the RRBC at public meetings, conferences, workshops, etc.
· Implement outreach strategies for the various stakeholder groups.
· Assist with mechanisms for Board training and involvement in outreach.
· Oversee and support the completion of performance evaluations of staff in the Fargo office.
· Maintain linkages in ND and MN to all levels of government: local, state, and federal.
· Remain current on water management activities throughout the Red River Basin and implement appropriate feedback mechanisms.
· Consult a network of resource experts to make recommendations on current activities, needed updates, and gaps in the Natural Resource Framework Plan (NRFP).
· Seek out and secure funding opportunities (i.e. grants, partnerships, etc.) that support programs and projects aligned with the RRBC mission in consultation with the Executive Director.
· Produce draft operating and project budgets.
· Provide an oversight of bookkeeping activities.
· Assist other staff as required in the fulfillment of their responsibilities.
· Assist in the Annual Summit Conference as needed.
· Participate in staff meetings via internet, phone and (as often as practical) in person.
· Provide other services or tasks as directed by the Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
· Five years of experience (Natural Resource Management, Business Administration, Public Affairs, Agriculture, Environmental Fields, etc.).
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a small team or independently.
· Hold and maintain a Driver’s License with a clean record.
· Hold and maintain a passport or confirmed ability to travel into Canada.
· Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in one of the listed fields: Natural Resource Management, Agriculture and Food Sciences, Environmental Science, Agroecology, Agribusiness, Earth Sciences, Environmental Studies, or Geography.
· Two years of supervisory/management experience.
· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a wide variety of Public entities.
· Experience in working with government officials, rights holders, and stakeholders on land and water management issues.
· Experience working with groups to build consensus, identify issues, resolve conflict, and educate.
· Knowledge of people, communities, and regional differences across the U.S. and Canadian portions of the Red River Basin.
· Hold and maintain a standard U.S. Passport.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
