About The opportunity | Ko te āheinga:
We are looking for a Water Information Analyst to join our Environmental Information team. This team manages a wide range of environmental data, ensuring it is accurate, quality‑coded, and readily available for use by scientists and the public.
As a specialist in water use management, particularly in relation to the Measurement and Reporting of Water Takes Regulations (2010) and resource consent conditions, you will play a key role in interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into robust, practical data and system outcomes. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Water Information, Compliance, Consents, Science, and Policy to ensure water use data is reliable, defensible, and fit for purpose. This role focuses on analysis, interpretation, and data quality assurance, with shared responsibility for keeping water use records up to date.
Play a key role in protecting our region’s water by turning regulatory requirements into meaningful action. You’ll strengthen our data systems, champion accuracy in water‑use reporting, and support sustainable water management for the future. You’ll bring strong analytical skills, a high level of attention to detail, and a commitment to producing accurate, high‑quality work. You’ll be comfortable working with complex data and regulatory frameworks, and able to explain technical information clearly to a wide range of audiences.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience working with data systems, auditing, or compliance‑driven processes
- The ability to build effective working relationships across teams and with external stakeholders
- Confidence supporting and sharing knowledge with others, contributing to a positive and capable team environment
A good understanding of farming systems and the rural sector, particularly irrigation, would be beneficial, along with experience working with Hilltop (or similar time‑series data tools), relational databases, GIS, and environmental or resource management data.
Ideally you will also have:
- Relevant bachelor’s degree, equivalent tertiary qualification, or relevant practical experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role/relevant industry
- Advanced computer skills including immediate to advanced skills with the Microsoft Office Software Suite, and competency with time series databases.
- Valid driver’s licence required
What we offer | Nga huanga mōu:
The salary range for this role is between $88,995 to $104,700 and will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
