Offer Description
The contract aims to hire a first-stage researcher to undertake research activities into the ecological assessment of Mediterranean coastal ecosystems, with a particular focus on coastal wetlands in the Bay of Alcudia (Majorca). The successful candidate will take part in implementing a research project geared towards studying the ecological status of water environments through analysing physical, chemical and biological indicators, including the use of water quality indices based on aquatic macroinvertebrates and assessing nutrients, phytoplankton and emerging contaminants.
The candidate’s main tasks will include:
– Taking seasonal samples in different coastal wetlands (Parc Natural de s’Albufera de Mallorca, Reserva Natural de s’Albufereta, Estany des Ponts and Prat de Maristany)
– Onsite measurement of physical and chemical parameters using multi-parameter probes
– Collecting and processing water and aquatic organism samples
– Analysing ecological and environmental data
