Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE
Save the Children Lebanon is implementing a large and varied Shelter and Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) program to meet the needs of the refugees and host communities in Lebanon.
The WASH Hygiene Promotion (HP) Technician will deliver WASH related intervention in the field, and is responsible to conduct hygiene awareness through household and community visits, and distribution hygiene materials,
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
CHILD SAFEGUARDING
Level 3 – the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Programme implementation/management
- Conduct evaluation and assessment at field level (with partners or internal to SCI on Hygiene Promotion, and Wash or multi-disciplinary approach)
- Implementation of components of the Water Sanitation and Hygiene activities related to Hygiene Promotion in Beirut and Mount Lebanon in consultation with the WaSH Officer
- Respond to enquiries, needs and challenges that arise that are related directly or indirectly to their field of work
- Conduct regular visits to beneficiaries, collective shelters, schools or informal tented settlements (ITs)
- Attend and support distributions including preparing distribution lists, material needed, obtaining signatures and actively coordinating with safety and security
- Conduct needs assessments and update biodata logs on excel, kobo, survey 123
- Conduct service assessments and coordination to provide required services abiding within SCI and wash policies
- Planning and implementation of community events, working with community committees and key stakeholders
- Actively present during service provision to ensure policies and safety measures are being applied and obtain signatures / feedback from service providers and/or beneficiaries
- Provide daily/weekly reports, as requested
- Contribute to data entry for activities such as HP sessions, distribution, community events, water trucking/desludging
Programme design/development
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of activities by collecting appropriate data from selected beneficiaries, using pre-made questionnaires
- Conduct regular site visits to supervise and/or monitor progress and quality
- Conduct Post Distribution Monitoring
- Conduct awareness sessions on Save the Children’s Feedback Mechanism System, and encourage its use
- Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in Public Health, Nursing, or Engineering or other related field.
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Essential
- Work experience in nursing, public health or related fields (1 years’ experience minimum)
- 1 year of experience in field work and community mobilization
- 1 year of experience in conducting training and sensitization sessions for communities and beneficiaries
- Computer skills (specifically Excel – MS Offices, Kobo/survey123)
- Strength in interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Ability to write weekly and monthly report
- Well organized
- Commitment to and understanding of SC aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
Desirable
- Ability to take initiative where appropriate to deal with difficulties encountered in daily work;
- Ability to adapt or change priorities according to the changing situation within a mission or the organization itself;
- Excellent contact and diplomacy to manage relationship in tensed situation
