The Role

Timaru District Council is looking for a Project Manager who can ensure the delivery of today’s projects whilst planning for tomorrow. This will be a busy and challenging role that requires an organised individual who can juggle multiple projects at once.

You will thrive on the variety and depth of the role, which will give you broad exposure to Council’s diverse three waters activities. We have some tremendously exciting and significant water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure projects underway, where your skills will be utilised throughout the project cycle.

What’s it all about:

  • Champion major long term asset upgrade and renewal strategies within the three waters space.
  • Project management and scheduling of significant capital expenditure for our three waters systems, including the management of planning, design, construction and commissioning of these systems.
  • Prepare and implement communications strategies and plans for projects.

Provide input into the strategic development of our three waters activities with critical contributions to Activity Management Plans and Long Term Plans.

By way of background, you will have experience in managing construction projects delivered by external consultants and contractors, be able to implement communications strategies and employ techniques to achieve strategic project objectives. You will hold a recognised qualification in Project Management and ideally be a chartered Engineer. To strengthen your technical talents, you will also have strong communication and relationship management skills as you will be engaging with multiple stakeholders.
