Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental Catalysis for Water Treatment

The successful candidate will join the SUNFLOW Research Group at the Chemical Engineering Department of the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).

The researcher will work within the research project “Removal of persistent halogenated pollutants by functionalized ultraporous zeolite catalysts (HALZEOCAT-CM)”, funded by the Community of Madrid.

Main tasks will include:

  • Synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous catalysts.
  • Degradation experiments of emerging contaminants, including persistent pollutants such as PFAS and POPs.
  • Development and optimization of analytical techniques for pollutant monitoring.
  • Preparation of research reports and discussion of results.
  • Preparation of scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.

The position offers the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary research environment focused on catalysis and advanced processes for environmental remediation.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Degree and MSc in Chemical Engineering or related disciplines.
  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
  • Experience in synthesis and functionalization of porous catalysts
  • Experience in characterization of catalysts.
  • Experience in catalytic degradation of persistent organic pollutants in water
  • Experience in laboratory work related to catalysis and environmental processes.

Specific Requirements

  • Ability to design and conduct experimental research.
  • Experience in catalyst characterization techniques and analytical methods.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary research environments.
  • Scientific writing skills for preparation of publications.

Eligibility criteria

Candidates must hold a PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field before the start date of the contract, with experience in Catalysis science.
