This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week.
The remuneration range for this role is $74,325 to $104,929 p.a. (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience.
The opportunity
As a Technical Advisor – Drainage Investigations, you will play a critical role in identifying and resolving stormwater and wastewater network issues that impact water quality, environmental outcomes, and public health.
Working within the Network Operations Group, you will plan, coordinate, and oversee drainage investigations, sanitary surveys, and human health mitigation projects to ensure compliance with the Global Stormwater Discharge Consent and relevant legislation. You’ll apply a range of investigative techniques, manage contractors, and work closely with customers, councils, regulators, and internal teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes.
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Plan, coordinate, and deliver sanitary surveys, drainage investigations, and human health mitigation projects in line with consent and legislative requirements
- Investigate stormwater and wastewater cross-contamination using techniques such as water sampling, CCTV, smoke/dye testing, and condition assessment
- Monitor stormwater quality and respond to out-of-spec notifications
- Manage contractors, including performance, health and safety audits, and compliance with traffic management and permit requirements
- Provide technical advice, reporting, and investigation data to internal teams and external stakeholders
About you
To be successful in this role you will bring:
- A relevant technical or trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience (engineering or environmental qualification desirable)
- Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills within infrastructure or network environments
- Experience managing contractors, projects, and customer or stakeholder relationships
- Knowledge of stormwater and wastewater systems, or a strong ability to quickly develop this expertise
- Excellent communication, organisation, and reporting skills, with a strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental outcomes
