WELL Labs is seeking two Hydrology/Hydrogeology Associates with a strong foundation in hydrology/hydrogeology and experience of having worked on watershed management projects to support water security projects.
Position Overview
We are looking for two motivated Hydrology/Hydrogeology Associates with a strong technical foundation in hydrology/hydrogeology and experience of having worked on watershed management projects to support water security projects. The role requires a balance of fieldwork, GIS analysis, and partner coordination, making it ideal for a professional who wants to apply technical training while developing stakeholder management skills.
This position will support the mission of WELL Labs to drive research and innovation with the goal of improving sustainability and equity of water and land management. The position will support projects on watershed management that would involve closely working with CSRs and CSOs, including extensive field work.

Responsibilities
- Conduct fieldwork for hydrogeological surveys.
- Build impact assessment of watershed management projects through field data collection design, data management, analysis and reporting.
- Conduct remote sensing and geospatial analytics.
- Retrieve and analyse hydrological and climate datasets
- Conduct systematic literature review and synthesise findings into actionable knowledge.
- Liaise with CSOs providing technical hand holding wherever needed.
- Write reports, blogs, or any other knowledge outputs.
- Maintain a proactive attitude and take ownership of tasks at both team and organisational level.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
Education & Experience
- A Master’s degree in Hydrology/Water resource management/Agriculture Sciences or allied programs.
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience (voluntary work/internships not included) in watershed management as a Hydrologist/Hydrogeologist.
- Previous work experience with a grassroots organisation/CSO/NGO will be an advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of water balance components and the associated measurement techniques at various spatial scales in the rural context.
- Demonstrable experience in field work, including conducting PRA and hydrological data collection.
- Strong skill set in GIS to visualise and analyse spatial data and generate meaningful maps that support decision-making. This includes at least basic knowledge of working with satellite imageries and remote sensing data from water and allied domains.
- A good proficiency in coding skills in R or Python to support data analytics and visualisations.
- It is desirable to have hydrological or subsurface modelling experience in SWAT, WEAP, MIKE-SHE, MODFLOW, etc.
